After taking a week off I was joined by Pride of Wyoming on Sunday evening. We discuss what the first year of college has been for him.
Then we dive into the action at not just Darlington. We first talk about the racing at Dover a week ago. His thoughts on his favorite driver Kyle Busch who looked strong at Dover. Thoughts on the racing itself over the weekend. With Dover producing one of the better races at that track in recent years. Josh Berry was able to take advantage of a pit road mistake from Justin Allgaier to win the Xfinity race. Which helped Berry get the win, but he as well as his JRM teammates were clearly the class of the field.
Switch to Darlington and talk about what was a more tamed Truck race than a year prior. With John Hunter Nemecheck taking the win. Allgaier was able to get his redemption from Dover to win on Saturday. His teammate Noah Gragson was strong in the opening stages of the race. Talk about throwback schemes and which ones me and Wyoming liked. Also talk about the schemes in the Cup Series and should NASCAR allow teams to put the number in the middle of the car for them. Plus, did Theresa Earnhardt call Trackhouse to make a change to the #1 car? Which was running a throwback to celebrate the #1 car that was driven at Japan in 1998 for Dale Earnhardt Incorporated.
Cup race certainly had some drama and then some. Joey Logano started on pole and would win Stage 1. Kyle Larson spun and then retired later on due to a mechanical issue. Brad Keselowski and Kyle Busch were involved in a crash. Ross Chastain would win Stage 2. Then proceed to lose it off turn 2 and crash out. Martin Truex Jr checked up and caused a stack up on a restart. Which caused several cars to be involved. Then, well what did we think of the finish with Logano moving William Byron and then some to get the win. We also touch on William Byron getting a contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports as well.
Briefly go over IndyCar and the recent news that pertains to Alexander Rossi and Rinus Veekay at McLaren. Plus Wyoming’s thoughts of what Jimmie Johnson could do in the Indy 500.
Wyoming for the first time watched a F1 race. Which was in Miami for the first time. Thoughts on what he saw during the race. Thoughts of the sport as well being that he’s new to watching it. Then go to asking Wyoming some questions around Kyle Busch regarding his future. What NASCAR drivers would you like to see have a go in the Indy 500. What his thoughts about the Green Bay Packers when it came to the NFL draft.
We close with a general discussion of our thoughts of the NASCAR season so far. Who looks strong and who is struggling. Also talk about some silly season stuff for 2023. Then we start a new part of the show with answering a question from a previous guest. Then leaving one for the next guest for the podcast.
