Did you know that at the end of your life you will be tested by God, and found either 'true' or 'false'? His consuming fire will reveal the true nature of your profession of faith and that of all of your works. Thankfully, God speaks to us through His Word to help prepare us for that final analysis, and thus it is the one voice that we can trust and depend on completely, the voice that has already proven itself tried and true throughout all ages. To help you on your journey towards eternity, twice a week Pastor Paul Cheng explains a few verses from the Bible, simply and powerfully.

Why Would God Allow Slavery? (Exodus 21:1-11)

Having just delivered the Israelites from bondage in Egypt, why did God let slavery continue?

The slavery established in the nation of Israel was unlike any other nation’s. Free from torture and fear, the Lord ensured His nation would be built upon just practices. But do these laws and passages hold relevance to us today, on this side of the cross? How should we view them as an illustration of our relationship to our own Master, Jesus Christ?
