F. Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel doesn't lack for beauty, but costume and production designer Catherine Martin, who works regularly with director Baz Luhrmann (they're also married), is plenty responsible for making The Great Gatsby look so vibrant on the screen. Her work on other films, including Moulin Rouge! and Romeo + Juliet, has redefined the cutting edge of maximalist glamour in modern film.
