Loktak Lake is the largest freshwater lake in North East India located in Moirang, Manipur. It is known for floating biomass called Phumdis scattered across the lake dotted with fishermen huts. Most of the local fishermen live on the Phumdis by building their huts. Loktak Lake is one of the largest provider of livelihood to the local community. The best way to explore and experience Loktak Lake is to stay in a homestay on the Phumdi to understand the ecosystem closely and know more about of the lives of the fishermen.
