PhD Researchers across the globe face a multitude of psychological problems. Why? Firstly, a PhD is usually a marathon degree. It takes years of grit, effort, and dedication. What I propose is that PhD Scholars need short-term rewards from the educational system in order to sustain motivation and make the journey as rewarding as the destination – the award of the degree of Doctor of Philosophy.
