Transmusic Airwaves is a journey beyond conventional radio boundaries. It encompasses various musical forms and styles loosely centered on “Progressive”, with attention to transitions that form cohesive sets of music. Ideally, it creates a context, an atmosphere, and conveys moods as listeners are guided through a musical spectrum.Transmusic Airwaves is the brainchild of Paul Ciminero, whose radio roots began in the 1970's at WKSU's late-night Fresh Air program. Transmusic began weekly podcasts in 2013 that continued until Paul's passing at the end of 2022. Afterwards, it expanded as a collaborative effort introducing a broader audio palette via multiple hosts and their respective musical knowledge. In this way, Transmusic has become the modern form of the old Fresh Air program!

25 years ago, WKSU celebrated their 50th anniversary and when they offered "us" 4 hours of streaming time on WKSU’s “Fresh Air Feature” website, and we jumped at that opportunity. Transmusic Airwaves presents those 4 hours produced 25 years ago, as a Fresh Air Archives Special. Our goal for the programming was to reflect on some of the “old music” with a strong desire to show where Fresh Air would have been, and where it would continue to go! Paul Ciminero obviously took this to heart when he founded Transmusic Airwaves 12 years later…and here we still are!
