Transmusic Airwaves is a journey beyond conventional radio boundaries. It encompasses various musical forms and styles loosely centered on “Progressive”, with attention to transitions that form cohesive sets of music. Ideally, it creates a context, an atmosphere, and conveys moods as listeners are guided through a musical spectrum.Transmusic Airwaves is the brainchild of Paul Ciminero, whose radio roots began in the 1970's at WKSU's late-night Fresh Air program. Transmusic began weekly podcasts in 2013 that continued until Paul's passing at the end of 2022. Afterwards, it expanded as a collaborative effort introducing a broader audio palette via multiple hosts and their respective musical knowledge. In this way, Transmusic has become the modern form of the old Fresh Air program!

Episode 645: Part 1 WKSU's Webcast 2000 Fresh Air Tribute
25 years ago, WKSU celebrated their 50th anniversary and when they offered "us" 4 hours of streaming time on WKSU’s “Fresh Air Feature” website, and we jumped at that opportunity.  Transmusic Airwaves presents those 4 hours produced 25 years ago, as a Fresh Air Archives Special.  Our goal for the programming was to reflect on some of the “old music” with a strong desire to show where Fresh Air would have been, and where it would continue to go!  Paul Ciminero obviously took this to heart when he founded Transmusic Airwaves 12 years later…and here we still are!  Learn more about WKSU's Fresh Air by downloading the book from the link posted below! Jeff Wootton Mix Set 1:WKSU Fresh Air Promo  (Ken Nordine, producer) This is Fresh Air, the non-commercial alternativeGentle Giant – Memories Of Old Days / The Missing Piece (1977)XTC – River of Orchids / Apple Venus Volume 1 (1998)Robert Waytt – Blues In Bob Minor / Shleep (1997)Paul Kanter and Jefferson Starship – Have You Seen the Stars Tonite / Blows Against The Empire (1970)WKSU Fresh Air Promo (Bryan Chandler, producer) You Are In Tune With Fresh Air801 – Listen Now / Listen Now (1977)Peter Hammill – The Great European Department Store / The Noise (1993)Senor Coconut (Uwe Schmidt) – Trans Europe Express (Segment) / El Baile AlemanThe Orb – Toxygene (Segment) / Orblivion (1997)Recoil – Shunt (Segment) / Unsound Methods (1997)WKSU Fresh Air Promo (Bruce Herrold, producer) From Kent State University (The Dark Side)Gong – Hymnalayas / Shapeshifter (1992)WKSU Fresh Air Promo (Carl Palmer, producer) Remember when it's all over... you can always count on Fresh AirLynn Miles – This Heart That Lives In Winter / Slightly Haunted (1996)Mark Isham – Nanawatai (Last Segment) / The Beast Of War (Soundtrack, 1988)Lois Wootton Mix Set 2:WKSU Fresh Air Promo (Evan Smith, producer) Everybody's talking about the Fresh Air T-shirtOzric Tentacles – Erpland / Erpland (1990)Don Cherry – Brown Rice / Brown Rice (1975)Laurie Anderson – Sharkey's Day / Mister Heartbreak (1984)Brian Eno – Energy Fools the Magician / Before And After Science (1977)Barry Adamson – Jazz Devil / As Above So Below (1998)David Sylvian and Robert Fripp – God's Monkey / The First Day (1993)WKSU Fresh Air Promo (Evan Smith, producer) This is Fresh Air, from the depths of Kent State University...Tangerine Dream – Red Roadster / Rockoon (1992)Loreena McKennitt – Santiago / The Mask And Mirror (1994)Pere Ubu – Mr. Wheeler / Pennsylvania (1998)Bill Nelson – Pink Buddha Blues / Practically Wired (1995)Laika – Moccasin / Good Looking Blues (2000)WKSU Fresh Air Promo (Paul Ciminero, producer)Hi, it's me again - Mr. Roberts promo for Vangelis' Chariots of Fire Import Album PremiereRusted Root – Magenta Radio / Rusted Root (1998) Catch Part 2 of this Special, next week!Contact! transmusicairwaves@gmail.comDownload!
