Having been in the industry for over 20 years, I know my fair share of traders.
Some are still trading, either for banks, asset managers or hedge funds. And some have moved on, either retired, set up businesses or retrained to do something completely different.
Whatever they are doing now, their trading experiences have taught them a great deal about markets, themselves and even life in general. By having regular conversations with them I am also able to learn from those experiences along with them.
These guys have been my mentors, colleagues and in some case have become some of my best friends.

Simon has worked for some of the leading institutions in the world of investment banking such as Credit Suisse, Citibank and Nomura. Having run single stock options desks at this elite level, Simon is acutely aware of the risks and opportunities that lurk in the equity derivatives space.
In this conversation they discuss how Simon thinks about idea generation and his thoughts on how the landscape has changed since the meme stock craze of buying far out the money call options which was so prevalent in 2021.
Unlike index options, which is Imran’s speciality, single stocks events such as earnings can have major impacts on prices and Simon shares his insights on how he has played these type of events in the past.
