Having been in the industry for over 20 years, I know my fair share of traders.
Some are still trading, either for banks, asset managers or hedge funds. And some have moved on, either retired, set up businesses or retrained to do something completely different.
Whatever they are doing now, their trading experiences have taught them a great deal about markets, themselves and even life in general. By having regular conversations with them I am also able to learn from those experiences along with them.
These guys have been my mentors, colleagues and in some case have become some of my best friends.

Tian Yang is Head of Research at Variant Perception, a macroeconomic research group catering to hedge funds, banks and family offices. Tian's work focuses on using proprietary leading indicators to generate actionable (and often contrarian) investment ideas.
Prior to joining Variant Perception in 2014, Tian worked as an equity derivatives trader for Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he was jointly responsible for building out the delta one global index business.
