Too often, we only use scriptures to uplift and encourage. And though God’s word is inspirational, it is also alive, therefore we must use the word to hold ourselves accountable. We must understand that grace and mercy aren’t there for us to abuse or, put in simple words, continue in sin. God’s word brings forth a mirror along with standards, and light to the dark places in our hearts so we change how we live. We should want to kill the old man (self) and become brand new in God.
And sometimes the only way to recognize and confront those behaviors is through “tough” talk.

Whenever we make a profession in any relationship we usually have actions to support what we profess. If not, it signals we are being hypocritical. If we say we love someone, then we should show actions that support loving them. If we say we support someone, we should show actions of supporting them. If we say we trust someone, we should show actions of supporting them.
So why is it so different with God. If we say we love Him, why don’t we obey Him?
