Singles, expats, separated by distance or by choice and divorced parents... it's a reality for many of us that we do not hold 100% rights to the company of our children. Having left my homeland back in 2009, I easily exchanged my family's holiday time for my ex-partner's family holiday time. Now, separated three years and I'm learning to be on my own, hold my own, and stand with myself, even when my child chooses to spend holiday time with others.
