
Have you ever asked yourself this one powerful question that could change everything for you, “Who is your dream customer?” I can bet up to this point in your business, you have never asked yourself this question. Most people are trying to sell to anyone and everyone they can. Most people put all their focus and all their efforts on creating a good product without any though about who you actually want to serve. While focusing on the product sounds smart at first, it can leave you tired, frustrated, and empty inside. If you were to pick your dream customer, who are they, what do they look like, and what are the offers you could create that would attract them? This is also the first question you need to ask yourself when starting your new company or making the shift to truly grow your existing company.
Question #1: Who is your dream customer? The first question you have to ask yourself is, Who do I actually want to work with? Most people start with a product idea, never thinking about who we want as clients or customers, yet these are the people you will be interacting with day in and day out. You’ll oftentimes spend more time with these people than your own friends and family.
Hell, we pick our life partners more carefully, so why wouldn’t you take the same time and care in deciding who your dream client or customer will be? If you’re just getting started, this may not seem important. But I promise you that if you don’t consciously choose your dream client, one day you will wake up and find that you are working with people who exhaust you and wishing that someone could fire you from the business you created.
I don’t want it to take you years to figure this out. I want you to sit back and actually think about the who. I want you to realize that you have been overlooking some pretty important questions such as:
Now you really want you to think about the who question. Once you have done that you need to create two customer avatars: one for the men you want to work with and one for the women you want to work with.
