15 Will Get You 20: The Sweaty, Drunk Tale of City High

This week we delve into the history of short-lived musical group City High, who topped the charts with their hit songs “What Would You Do” and “15 will get you 20” (yes, they’re talking about statuatory r*pe).

Liz gives an overview of the group’s rise as Wyclef-produced stars, and their crash-and-burn breakup just a couple years later due to member Robby Pardlo’s alcoholism and his shaky allegations that girlfriend and band member Claudette Ortiz cheated on him with the third member of City High.

The gang watches excerpts from Robby’s sweaty, drunk episode of Intervention in which he drives drunk, attempts to record off-key vocals at a studio while swigging from a plastic vodka pint, neglects his child, complains incessantly about his MEAN MOM, and screams at his family.

Beau gets confused about the message of “What Would You Do” and thinks he has to become a sex worker to feed his hungry baby daddy. Liz calls out the dumbass main character of “15 will get you 20” and his lack of basic reasoning and due diligence. Monica and Liz tell stories of being ogled by nasty old men at the age of 13 and wonder why grown-ass men are into minors.

Liz reads from an interview with Claudette detailing Robby’s abuse and abject alcoholism and how his dysfunction cost her a life-long dream, then she plays a podcast interview in which Robby victim-blames Claudette and reveals that he is STILL DRINKING but it’s all good. Monica retains hope that if the sh*tty podcast can have almost 2,000 followers, we could get 3.

The gang discusses Wyclef’s possibly-sketchy age difference with ex Lauryn Hill and recalls philanderer Fabolos’ controversial Claudette Ortiz appreciation post on Instagram, then decide that Throuple is now a Claudette Ortiz appreciation podcast. Lastly, a quick cruise of Robby’s Instagram reveal photos of vodka and questionable tattoos.
