CHAOS OR DESIGN?: Interwoven | Judah Thomas

[Job 26:8] He wraps the rain in his thick clouds, and the clouds don't burst with the weight.

Every system relies on _________________.

[Psalm 104:24] O LORD, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures.

All throughout creation, we see a divine ________________.

Nothing thrives in _________________.

[Colossians 1:17] He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

There’s a _________________ holding everything together.

[Genesis 2:18] Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him."

Everything in creation was declared _________________ except _________________.

[1 Corinthians 12:18-20; 25-27] But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. [19] How strange a body would be if it had only one part! [20] Yes, there are many parts, but only one body. [25] This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. [26] If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. [27] All of you together are Christ's body, and each of you is a part of it.

Our relationship with God is built on _________________.

[John 15:4-5] Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. [5] "Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

And you are called to _________________ to the life around you.

Jesus Said What?!?!: Only Way (May 6, 2018) | Judah Thomas

Jesus came to the earth to make a way ____________. [John 14:1-6] “Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. [2] There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? [3] When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am. [4] And you know the way to where I am going.” [5] “No, we don’t know, Lord,” Thomas said. “We have no idea where you are going, so how can we know the way?” [6] Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. Jesus doesn't just point the way, he is the ______. Jesus is the only Savior from slavery to _________ and ____________. Doing _____________ can't get you home. ____________ is man's attempt to get to God. ____________ is God's attempt to get to man. [John 3:16 NIV] For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. True Christianity is not exclusive, it's _______________. [Romans 10:13] For "Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved." JC doesn't just tell the __________, he is the truth. John 8:32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. Jesus doesn't just give __________, he is the life. [John 10:10b CSB] I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance. Jesus didn't come for behavior modification, he came for heart ____________________. [Acts 4:12] There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.

CHAOS OR DESIGN?: Beyond Beauty | Judah Thomas

We live in a world designed not just for ________________, but for ________________.

[Ecclesiastes 3:11] Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.

We don't need beauty to ________________, but is makes us feel ________________.

[Genesis 1:29-31] Then God said, "Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. [30] And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground--everything that has life." And that is what happened. [31] Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! And evening passed and morning came, marking the sixth day.

God created ________________ and the ________________ for us to enjoy it.

[Ecclesiastes 9:7-8] So go ahead. Eat your food with joy, and drink your wine with a happy heart, for God approves of this! [8] Wear fine clothes, with a splash of cologne!

He didn’t have to ________________ it this way, but He ________________.

[Psalm 27:4 ESV] One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple.

Beauty leads us beyond the ________________ we see to the ________________ who made it.

Beauty is a reflection of God's ________________.

[Romans 1:20-22] For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. [21] Yes, they knew God, but they wouldn't worship him as God or even give him thanks. And they began to think up foolish ideas of what God was like. As a result, their minds became dark and confused. [22] Claiming to be wise, they instead became utter fools.

Jesus loved to _____________ the bar. [Luke 6:27-28, 32-33] “But to you who are willing to listen, I say, love your enemies! Do good to those who hate you. [28] Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who hurt you. [32] “If you love only those who love you, why should you get credit for that? Even sinners love those who love them! [33] And if you do good only to those who do good to you, why should you get credit? Even sinners do that much! Jesus is telling us to love people no _____________ what they do to us. Loving our enemies reveals an _________________ of God. [Psalm 103:10] He does not punish us for all our sins; he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve. Jesus wants us to do _____________ for _____________. [Romans 12:21] Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good. [Proverbs 25:21-22 CSB] If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat, and if he is thirsty, give him water to drink; [22] for you will heap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you. Blessing your enemies shows the ________ who you follow. [John 13:35] Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” _____________ for your enemies helps you see them the way God sees them. [Acts 7:59-60] As they stoned him, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” [60] He fell to his knees, shouting, “Lord, don’t charge them with this sin!” And with that, he died. Jesus casts a __________ __________ of love. Loving your enemies is ___________________ on your own. [Philemon 1:15-18] It seems you lost Onesimus for a little while so that you could have him back forever. [16] He is no longer like a slave to you. He is more than a slave, for he is a beloved brother, especially to me. Now he will mean much more to you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord. [17] So if you consider me your partner, welcome him as you would welcome me. [18] If he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge it to me. CHAOS OR DESIGN?: Living Dirt | Judah Thomas

[Psalm 139:13-16] You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb. [14] Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous--how well I know it. [15] You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. [16] You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.

Something as ________________ as your body doesn’t happen by ________________.

[Genesis 2:7] Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man's nostrils, and the man became a living person.

You are literally ________________ bought to ________________ by the breath of God.

[Proverbs 4:23] Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.

[Proverbs 2:6] For the LORD grants wisdom! From his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

Design and ________________ don't come from ________________.

[Exodus 4:11] Then the LORD asked Moses, "Who makes a person's mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the LORD?

Your voice is a custom ________________ made by God himself.

Only God could create something as ________________ as our ________________.

All the information to create ________________ is contained in a single ________________.

[Ephesians 2:4-5] But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, [5] that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God's grace that you have been saved!)

Jesus Said What?!?!: God & Caesar (April 22, 2018) | Judah Thomas

[Matthew 22:15-22] Then the Pharisees met together to plot how to trap Jesus into saying something for which he could be arrested. [16] They sent some of their disciples, along with the supporters of Herod, to meet with him. “Teacher,” they said, “we know how honest you are. You teach the way of God truthfully. You are impartial and don’t play favorites. [17] Now tell us what you think about this: Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?” [18] But Jesus knew their evil motives. “You hypocrites!” he said. “Why are you trying to trap me? [19] Here, show me the coin used for the tax.” When they handed him a Roman coin, [20] he asked, “Whose picture and title are stamped on it?” [21] “Caesar’s,” they replied. “Well, then,” he said, “give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar, and give to God what belongs to God.” [22] His reply amazed them, and they went away. Be careful not to let your _________________ own you. [Luke 12:33-34] “Sell your possessions and give to those in need. This will store up treasure for you in heaven! And the purses of heaven never get old or develop holes. Your treasure will be safe; no thief can steal it and no moth can destroy it. [34] Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. God wants you to ________________ in the Kingdom of Heaven. [Malachi 3:10] Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. Generosity _________________ God's blessings. [Luke 11:42] “What sorrow awaits you Pharisees! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, but you ignore justice and the love of God. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things. Jesus has called us to a life of _________________. [2 Corinthians 9:7-8] You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” [8] And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. You will have _______________ when you live a life of generosity. [Luke 6:38] Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” Don't stop the _________________! God wants his blessings to flow ________ you and _________________ you.

CHAOS OR DESIGN?: Signs of Life | Judah Thomas

If life was given on ________________ then you are here on ________________.

[Acts 17:24-25] "He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn't live in man-made temples, [25] and human hands can't serve his needs--for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need.

Only God has the power to give something _____________.

[Genesis 2:7-8] Then the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man's nostrils, and the man became a living person. [8] Then the LORD God planted a garden in Eden in the east, and there he placed the man he had made.

Every living thing bears the ____________________ of God.

[Psalm 104:24-25] O LORD, what a variety of things you have made! In wisdom you have made them all. The earth is full of your creatures. [25] Here is the ocean, vast and wide, teeming with life of every kind, both large and small.

No system runs perpetually on its own unless someone ________________ it to.

[John 10:10 ESV] The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

In a world filled with ________________, so many people are walking around spiritually ________________.

God wants to set us free from ________________.

Jesus Said What?!?!: It's the Thought that Counts (April 15, 2018) | Judah Thomas

[Matthew 5:21-22 CSB] “You have heard that it was said to our ancestors, Do not murder, and whoever murders will be subject to judgment. 22 But I tell you, everyone who is angry with his brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Whoever insults his brother or sister, will be subject to the court. Whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be subject to hellfire. The Law said, you shall not ____________; but Jesus said, you shall not ____________ to murder. [1 John 2:9] If anyone claims, “I am living in the light,” but hates a fellow believer, that person is still living in darkness. [28] But I tell you, everyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. [29] If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. [30] And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of the parts of your body than for your whole body to go into hell. What you're looking at and _______________ about matters. We should do _______________ necessary to avoid sin. Sin is ____________. [Jeremiah 17:9] “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? Our actions are just a reflection of our ____________. [Mark 7:20-23] And then he added, “It is what comes from inside that defiles you. [21] For from within, out of a person’s heart, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, [22] adultery, greed, wickedness, deceit, lustful desires, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. [23] All these vile things come from within; they are what defile you.” We need to stop the ____________ before it becomes an action. [3] His face shone like lightning, and his clothing was as white as snow. [4] The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint. [5] Then the angel spoke to the women. “Don’t be afraid!” he said. “I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. [6] He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen. 2-Way Communication: Watch and Pray (March 25, 2018) | Judah Thomas

[Matthew 26:36-41] Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, “Sit here while I go over there and pray.” [37] He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. [38] Then he said to them, “My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me.” [39] Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will.” [40] Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. “Couldn’t you men keep watch with me for one hour?” he asked Peter. [41] “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Watch: to give strict _______________ to, be cautious. [1 Peter 5:8-9] Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. The secret to ______________ over sin is to watch and pray. [1 Corinthians 10:12-13] So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! [13] No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. TAKE A HIKE: Walk on the Water | Judah Thomas

[Matthew 14:22-24] Immediately after this, Jesus insisted that his disciples get back into the boat and cross to the other side of the lake, while he sent the people home. [23] After sending them home, he went up into the hills by himself to pray. Night fell while he was there alone. [24] Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had risen, and they were fighting heavy waves.

In their fear, they cried out, "It's a ghost!" [27] But Jesus spoke to them at once. "Don't be afraid," he said. "Take courage. I am here!"

[Matthew 14:28-29] Then Peter called to him, "Lord, if it's really you, tell me to come to you, walking on the water." [29] "Yes, come," Jesus said. So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus.

Faith doesn’t wait for _________________ conditions.

[2 Corinthians 5:7] For we live by believing and not by seeing.

[Matthew 14:30-31] But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. "Save me, Lord!" he shouted. [31] Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. "You have so little faith," Jesus said. "Why did you doubt me?"

Even when your _______________ falters, ______________ still reaches.

[Psalm 121:1-2] I look up to the mountains--does my help come from there? [2] My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth!

2 Way Communication: The Process (March 18, 2018) | Judah Thomas

[James 5:13-16] Are any of you suffering hardships? You should pray. Are any of you happy? You should sing praises. [14] Are any of you sick? You should call for the elders of the church to come and pray over you, anointing you with oil in the name of the Lord. [15] Such a prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven. [16] Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. God still ____________ people! God always does the ____________ ____________. [Hebrews 13:8] Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I can still ____________ God when things don't turn out the way I think they should. [Isaiah 57:1] Good people pass away; the godly often die before their time. But no one seems to care or wonder why. No one seems to understand that God is protecting them from the evil to come. [2 Timothy 4:18a NIV] The Lord will rescue me from every evil attack and will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom. God is more concerned about my ____________. God wants my to ____________ to ____________. Let your faith continue grow ___________________ of your situation. [2 Corinthians 5:7 ESV] for we walk by faith, not by sight. We are concerned about what is happening ______ ______. God is focused on what is happening ______ ______. Zechariah 4:10a Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, Between the beginning and the grand finale is the _________________. [2 Corinthians 12:8-10] Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. [9] Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. [10] That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

TAKE A HIKE: Fire Walking | Judah Thomas

[Daniel 1:3-4] Then the king ordered Ashpenaz, his chief of staff, to bring to the palace some of the young men of Judah's royal family and other noble families, who had been brought to Babylon as captives. [4] "Select only strong, healthy, and good-looking young men," he said. "Make sure they are well versed in every branch of learning, are gifted with knowledge and good judgment, and are suited to serve in the royal palace. Train these young men in the language and literature of Babylon."

The enemy doesn’t just want to ________________ you, he want to ________________ you.

[Daniel 3:16-18] Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you. [17] If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us. He will rescue us from your power, Your Majesty. [18] But even if he doesn't, we want to make it clear to you, Your Majesty, that we will never serve your gods or worship the gold statue you have set up."

Real faith says God __________, believes God ____________, but trusts even if He ________________.

[1 Peter 4:12-13] Dear friends, don't be surprised at the fiery trials you are going through, as if something strange were happening to you. [13] Instead, be very glad--for these trials make you partners with Christ in his suffering, so that you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his glory when it is revealed to all the world.

God doesn’t promise to keep you ___________ the fire, He promises to be ____________ you in it.

[Daniel 3:24-25] But suddenly, Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in amazement and exclaimed to his advisers, "Didn't we tie up three men and throw them into the furnace?" "Yes, Your Majesty, we certainly did," they replied. [25] "Look!" Nebuchadnezzar shouted. "I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire unharmed! And the fourth looks like a god!"

You are never ________________ alone.

[Isaiah 43:2 ESV] When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.

God promises to ________________ be with us.

[Daniel 3:27] Then the high officers, officials, governors, and advisers crowded around them and saw that the fire had not touched them. Not a hair on their heads was singed, and their clothing was not scorched. They didn't even smell of smoke!

The only thing the fire destroyed was what _____________ them.

[James 1:2-3] Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. [3] For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.

2-Way Communication: Awareness (March 11, 2018) | Judah Thomas

[Genesis 28:16] Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I wasn’t even aware of it!” Just because you can't __________ God's presence doesn't mean that he __________ there! A relationship with God begins with an awareness of his __________________. God _______________ those who are aware of his presence. [Psalm 16:11] You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. We need to know __________ before we can know his __________. [1 Thessalonians 5:17] Never stop praying. God is closer that he __________. [Psalm 139:7-12] I can never escape from your Spirit! I can never get away from your presence! [8] If I go up to heaven, you are there; if I go down to the grave, you are there. [9] If I ride the wings of the morning, if I dwell by the farthest oceans, [10] even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me. [11] I could ask the darkness to hide me and the light around me to become night— [12] but even in darkness I cannot hide from you. To you the night shines as bright as day. Darkness and light are the same to you. You may __________ alone, but you are __________ alone. [Psalm 23:4 ESV] Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. ________________ hinder us from experiencing God's presence. [Matthew 28:20b] And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” My God won't ________________ me.

TAKE A HIKE: Walking in Circles | Judah Thomas

[Joshua 5:13-14] When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, "Are you friend or foe?" [14] "Neither one," he replied. "I am the commander of the LORD's army." At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. "I am at your command," Joshua said. "What do you want your servant to do?"

Sometimes we need to be ___________________ before we can be ___________________.

[Isaiah 55:8-9] "My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts," says the LORD. "And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. [9] For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.

God doesn’t join our ___________________, He invites us to join ___________________.

[Joshua 6:3-5] You and your fighting men should march around the town once a day for six days. [4] Seven priests will walk ahead of the Ark, each carrying a ram's horn. On the seventh day you are to march around the town seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. [5] When you hear the priests give one long blast on the rams' horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Then the walls of the town will collapse, and the people can charge straight into the town."

The path to the ___________________ always begins with ___________________.

[Hebrews 10:36] Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God's will. Then you will receive all that he has promised.

Faith means marching even when ___________________ is moving.

[Joshua 6:20] When the people heard the sound of the rams' horns, they shouted as loud as they could. Suddenly, the walls of Jericho collapsed, and the Israelites charged straight into the town and captured it.

The God who calls you to ___________________ is the God who brings the walls ___________________.

[Joshua 1:9] This is my command--be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."

Just because you don’t see ___________________ doesn’t mean God isn’t ___________________.

2 Way Communication: Persistent Prayer (March 4, 2018) | Remie Ferreira

[Luke 18:1-7] One day Jesus told his disciples a story to show that they should always pray and never give up. [2] “There was a judge in a certain city,” he said, “who neither feared God nor cared about people. [3] A widow of that city came to him repeatedly, saying, ‘Give me justice in this dispute with my enemy.’ [4] The judge ignored her for a while, but finally he said to himself, ‘I don’t fear God or care about people, [5] but this woman is driving me crazy. I’m going to see that she gets justice, because she is wearing me out with her constant requests!’” [6] Then the Lord said, “Learn a lesson from this unjust judge. [7] Even he rendered a just decision in the end. So don’t you think God will surely give justice to his chosen people who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will grant justice to them quickly! But when the Son of Man returns, how many will he find on the earth who have faith? God wants to give us what we ________ ________. [Matthew 7:7-8] Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. [8] For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. God uses persistent prayer as a vehicle for ________________. [James 5:16b] The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results. Allow God to align our _________ with His _________. [Matthew 6:33] Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. [James 4:3] And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong—you want only what will give you pleasure. [Psalm 46:10] Be still, and know that I am God! To prepare us for His ____________. [Psalm 51:10] Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. A premature answer might cause us to glory in the ________ and not the ____________ ___________. To ___________ our lives and character. [Philippians 1:6] And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. To be used of God in ___________ warfare. [Ephesians 6:12] For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. [Ephesians 6:18] Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere To bless us with a more intimate ____________________ with God.

TAKE A HIKE: In Step with the Spirit | Carey Thomas

[Galatians 5:25 NIV] Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

It is possible to ___________________ the promptings of the Spirit.

[Acts 16:6-8] Next Paul and Silas traveled through the area of Phrygia and Galatia, because the Holy Spirit had prevented them from preaching the word in the province of Asia at that time. 7 Then coming to the borders of Mysia, they headed north for the province of Bithynia, but again the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them to go there. 8 So instead, they went on through Mysia to the seaport of Troas.

Sometimes the Holy Spirit ___________________ our direction.

[Acts 16:9-12] That night Paul had a vision: A man from Macedonia in northern Greece was standing there, pleading with him, "Come over to Macedonia and help us!" 10 So we decided to leave for Macedonia at once, having concluded that God was calling us to preach the Good News there. 11 We boarded a boat at Troas and sailed straight across to the island of Samothrace, and the next day we landed at Neapolis. 12 From there we reached Philippi, a major city of that district of Macedonia and a Roman colony. And we stayed there several days.

We need to allow the Spirit to ___________________ us.

[Acts 16:13-15] On the Sabbath we went a little way outside the city to a riverbank, where we thought people would be meeting for prayer, and we sat down to speak with some women who had gathered there. 14 One of them was Lydia from Thyatira, a merchant of expensive purple cloth, who worshiped God. As she listened to us, the Lord opened her heart, and she accepted what Paul was saying. 15 She was baptized along with other members of her household, and she asked us to be her guests. "If you agree that I am a true believer in the Lord," she said, "come and stay at my home." And she urged us until we agreed.

We need to ________ on God's direction not just _____________ it.

[Acts 16:40] When Paul and Silas left the prison, they returned to the home of Lydia. There they met with the believers and encouraged them once more. Then they left town.

Sometimes the Spirit doesn’t give you the whole ____________, just the next _____________.

[Galatians 6:4-5] Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won't need to compare yourself to anyone else. 5 For we are each responsible for our own conduct.

We can ___________________ from others, but we are not to ___________________ ourselves to others.

[John 10:27] My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.

If we’re not walking with God ___________________ we won't recognize His ___________________.

[Proverbs 19:21] You can make many plans, but the LORD's purpose will prevail.

The goal is not to follow ________ plans, but to follow His ________.

[Philippians 4:6-7] Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

God’s will and path is always accompanied by His _____________.

If the situation is beyond _________ control, it’s in ________ control.
