Interior Design Classics and Trends - Thoughts on Design - Episode 7
We are influenced by design trends every day. In Episode 7, Kim explores where trends come from.
Manufacturers, world events, technology, and designers themselves influence how we decorate our homes. Some trends have a profound impact on the design world, such as mid-century style, and have had an extraordinary resurgence, while others just disappear. Did you know that the use of light paint on interior walls was developed by a former actress turned interior designer? Did you know that shag carpet was a trend nearly 50 years ago and has returned?
Some examples of furniture pieces started out as trends but, because of the integrity of their design, they become classics. Kim discusses some of these classic pieces and why they’ve remained popular with designers.
But design trends can be exciting and bring a new look and feel to your home. Kim discusses how to incorporate those trends into a good home design.
