Your favorite corner-store philosophers trying to figure out life one conundrum at a time. We are two brothers in love with thinking. Our dream is to use casual philosophy to figure out most of life's uncertainties. Delusional? Perhaps. One thing is certain: we will not arrive at this goal without engaging in meaningful discourse with others. Help us achieve this dream.

34. The End of Psi-Chology | Thinkin' Bros Podcast

🧠 Thinkin’ Bros Podcast is hosted by intellectual phenomena Alex and Chris. We make psychology and philosophy accessible through informal discussions and try to find ways to use these disciplines to enhance our everyday lives.

šŸ‘‰ We begin by discussing Feeling the Future: Experimental Evidence for Anomalous Retroactive Influences on Cognition and Affect by D. J. Bem. No, this is not a joke... his initials are really DJ. And he also analyses empirical evidence for the phenomenon he calls "psi", which is essentially people's ability to predict the future. Will you be convinced by this psychologist's rigorous findings? Come find out.

šŸ‘‰ In the main segment, we discuss the third and fourth chapters of Neil Postman's "The End of Education": Some New Gods That Fail and Some Gods That May Serve. It is the follow-up to last week's episode, where Neil introduced the idea of narratives and gods as a guide for children's education. This week, we discuss the failure of the god of technology and the introduction of five new gods that, according to Neil, would work synergistically in bettering the youth. His fix is not only centred on motivating children to go to school, but also getting them ready for the society that awaits them in the future.
