Simon spent 16 years at Ewood Park, scoring 192 goals in all competitions and was part of two promotion winning sides.

He joins us to discuss his early life in Lincolnshire, before explaining how the move to Rovers came about.

Simon then takes us through his time at the club under Jim Iley, John Pickering, Howard Kendall, Bobby Saxton, Don Mackay and Kenny Dalglish.

We find out about playing at Wembley in the 1987 Full Members Cup final, the heartbreak of several failed play-off campaigns, how ‘King Kenny’ had him involved in the 1992 promotion game and his departure.

Simon then discusses life at Wycombe, Wealdstone and Torquay, before a four-week spell in prison, which we hear an open and honest account of life in Kirkham prison.

We finish with Simon’s final playing days, before attention turns to his book ‘Simon Garner: One Last Shot’ to finish the podcast.
