Welcome to the Therapy Café® Podcast, a new kind of podcast for therapists and other health care professionals where we have real, deep conversations about holistic mental wellness topics. This podcast is hosted by Dr. Kathleen Tallent, licensed psychologist, and Allison Stenson, business/marketing expert/ordained minister, and includes conversations with expert clinicians, researchers, and first-hand accounts of those with lived experience of mental illness to shed light on current issues and solutions. We strive to apply psychological research to solve real-world problems and "think outside the box" when it comes to mental health to help you bring about real, lasting change in your community. Topics include engaging underserved populations, reducing the stigma of mental illness, holistic approaches, and how to care for ourselves so we can show up for clients and be our authentic selves. We’ll be bringing you these conversations every week starting in 2021. Join us for Season 1, where we focus on First Responder Mental Wellness and how to develop cultural competence when working with firefighters, police officers, Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs), paramedics, 911 dispatchers, and other public safety personnel. Be sure to subscribe on YouTube and follow us on Facebook to be the first to know when a new episode is out.

Episode 5: Craig Bodette, Crossing Bridges Together

Craig is a career firefighter and Coordinator of the Hanover County, Virginia Fire & EMS Peer Support Team. Craig is a career firefighter and medic, who has been in Hanover County for the past 14 years. Prior to that, he volunteered in Chesterfield County, Virginia and has been in the field for over 20 years. More recently, Craig has been devoting his time and effort to help those in the Fire Service get support from their peers and access to mental health services when needed. He speaks openly about the firefighting profession and what mental health clinicians need to know. He is working to build bridges to connect clinicians with peer support and open avenues to help therapists work with firefighters and paramedics effectively.
