Goff describes Parham as one of the founders of Pentecostalism. Dr. James R. Goff, Jr. (PhD, University of Arkansas, 1987) is Chair and Professor of History at Appalachian State University. He is the author of Fields White Unto Harvest: Charles F. Parham and the Missionary Origins of Pentecostalism (Arkansas, 1988) and Close Harmony: A History of Southern Gospel (UNC, 2002) as well as numerous scholarly and popular articles.
