#86 - Spring Bear Hunting with The Johnsons and Drawing A Michigan Bear Tag with Adam Miller

On today's episode of the.deercamp.podcast, we are back in the studio with my friends The Johnsons and Adam Miller talking bear hunting. We discuss:

  • The Johnsons went bear hunting in Manitoba instead of waiting years for Michigan tags

  • Mornings were for fishing — over 100 pike caught during the trip

  • The bear stands were deep — hour truck ride, then 30 minutes by quad

  • Jill had bears under her stand the first night and was too nervous to draw

  • She ended up arrowing a 150 lb bear at just 17 yards

  • They tracked it in the dark but found it the next morning 300 yards away

  • Made pulled bear tacos using root beer and a crockpot — said it beat venison

  • The Johnsons are heading to Wyoming next for their first mule deer rifle hunt

  • Hunting as a couple has its costs, but way more chances to get out together

  • At home, they’re planting clover, chicory, corn, and soybeans for fall deer season

And so much more!
