Episode #203: "Offseason Review 1" Includes me in Detroit, Celtics moves, Chicago's direction +more!
Today's episode of The Zay Coleman Podcast we discuss my recent trip to Detroit Michigan where I got to get in touch with "Hoops Culture" including famed St. Cecilia Gym, Various High Schools where stars like Jalen Rose, Chris Webber, Howard Eisley and MORE got their start. But that's not the ONLY reason we got this episode together! We also have the annual offseason review that gets more controversial than the last. First we discuss the Milwaukee Bucks and them re-signing Khris Middleton and Brook Lopez, who was heavily pursued by the Houston Rockets of all teams, while adding Sharpshooters like Lakers G Malik Beasley and AJ Green from their G-League system. We discuss the future of the organization now that they've replaced Long time coach Mike Budenholzer with first-time Head Coach Adrian Griffin from the Toronto Raptors and the ever-so patient Giannis Antetokounmpo and how all of the combining pieces work together for the ultimate goal. Next team we analyze is the Chicago Bulls, where they're moves leaves the host puzzled with what EXACTLY is the goal of this franchise and why are the only two new pieces you have under contract Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig? Those questions get answered (surprisingly) in this episode. Next stop: Cleveland as the Cavaliers are the next team we get to talk about as they spent alot of Money (Over 130 million to be precise) to insure that the Small Forward Position has some shooting in the near future as they Sign Miami Heat F Max Strus and Sixers F Georges Niang while also bring back G/F Caris LeVert on a hefty price tag. We sorta take our stand on if Isaac Okoro is anything to write home about this year. And finally we reach the Eastern Conference Favorites as the Boston Celtics are our final team this episode as we dive into the blockbuster move that sent Former Wizards F/C Kristaps Porzingis to the Celtics in 3 team deal that sent Longtime Celtics G Marcus Smart to the Grizzlies and salary filler (Danilo Gallinari, Mike Muscala) to the Wizards. Boston also received 2 first round picks (later flipped on draft night but still landed Draft Favorite Jordan Walsh so not to bad in hindsight. They also made underrated Moves in free agency as they were able to sign to of MY favorites in Raptors Wing Dalano Banton and Former Pacers F Oshae Brissett. Versatility and Spacing: Boston Celtics basketball. They also gave Jaylen Brown the longest cumulative extention in NBA history at $302 Million over 5 years. We'll see how these moves work out in the long run and if it leads them to titles in the near future.
