Yale Campus Update: Medical Herbals Exhibit, Korean Cuisine Events, Sports Highlights & Halloween Fun (Oct 20–27)
Hey Handsome Dan, it's Jenny with your Campus Update for October 20 through October 27. Let's get you set for the week—fast.
First up—the Yale Library is unveiling "The Roots of Healing: Six Centuries of Medical Herbals" exhibition starting today. It's a deep dive into the history of medicinal plants and their uses. The exhibit runs through March 22, so you've got plenty of time to check it out.
Next, on Tuesday at 12:30 p.m., Hyaeweol Choi from the University of Iowa presents "Gongyang: Meditations on Korean Buddhist Temple Food" at the Council on East Asian Studies. If you're into culinary traditions and cultural insights, this one's for you.
And don't miss the "Yale Global Table Chef’s Lecture and Dinner" with Venerable Jeong Kwan on Wednesday at 6 p.m. It's a unique opportunity to experience Korean temple cuisine and philosophy.
The women's volleyball team dominated Dartmouth on Friday night, sweeping them in three sets. Laurece Abraham was on fire, hitting .632 with 14 kills. Betsy Goodenow added a double-double with 11 digs and 10 kills. The Bulldogs are now 4-2 in Ivy League play.
In field hockey, the No. 16 Bulldogs took down Dartmouth 3-1 on Senior Night. Poppy Beales led the charge with two goals, bringing her season total to 10—a new career high. The team is tied for third in the Ivy League standings.
Looking ahead, the volleyball team hosts Harvard this Saturday at 6 p.m. Let's pack the stands and show our support!
On Monday at 4 p.m., join the Office of International Students & Scholars for "Pedal Through Fall," a bike ride through New Haven's scenic spots. It's a great way to enjoy the autumn colors and meet fellow students.
Feeling adventurous? The "Halloween Spooktacular Escape Room: Night at OISS" is happening Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Test your puzzle-solving skills and get into the Halloween spirit.
And for a dining tip—the Yale Repertory Theatre is hosting "Dinner Talk & A Show" featuring the play "Spunk" on Friday at 6:15 p.m. Enjoy a meal and a performance all in one evening.
