Podcast | Rural Communities
The Work of Art is a podcast series from the National Galleries of Scotland, looking at the issues faced by artists working in Scotland today. From running their own spaces, to funding their own work, and what happens when public opinion is divided. In this episode we’ll be finding out what it’s like to be an artist living and working in a rural community. From Aberdeenshire to the Orkney islands, we’ll hear from artists about the benefits and drawbacks of living outwith big cities. #TheWorkOfArt Contributors: Claudia Zeiske (founding director of Deveron Projects), Anna Francis (artist) and Rebecca Davies (artist), Rachel Ashton (artist), Kari Adams (artist and Museums & Galleries Assistant, the Pier Arts Centre), and members of the MOTI collective (Ingrid Garrioch, Emma Fraser, Kerrianne Flett, Stephanie Spence, and Louise Barrington). www.nationalgalleries.org *** The Work of Art is produced by the National Galleries of Scotland and Gill Davies, and presented by Jan Patience. Production assistance from Susan McAteer. Logo design by Dan Hay. The series was produced to coincide with A New Era | Scottish Modern Art 1900-1950, an exhibition at the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, Edinburgh, 2018.
