In this episode Joy and Laura break down season 4 episode 5 of Supernatural, “Monster Movie”. Sam and Dean investigate a series of bizarre murders in a small Pennsylvania town during Oktoberfest, that appear to be the work of classic horror movie monsters.
We love this episode so much! We discuss how good the actor who plays Dracula is, how amazing all of the references to old monster movies are, and query whether certain moments were originally in the script or ad-libbed by Jared and Jensen.
We also talk about how much fun Dean is having at Oktoberfest, Laura does not understand how Sam worked out who the shapeshifter was from a dirty tissue, and we discuss the Dean logic of how coming back from Hell means he’s now a virgin again.
Joy’s Easter eggs are about some of the sets and locations used for this episode, the very touching story behind the naming of the character Jamie, and how Jensen was actually elbowed in the face during the fight scene with Dracula.
