On today's guest episode of 'The Wellbeing Wanderer Podcast' Kat chats to Chris Rackliffe, a Anxious Attachment Style Coach and Author. Chris is also a trauma healer, a mental health advocate and author of the self-help book, It’s Good to See Me Again: How to Find Your Way When You Feel Lost—an illuminating guidebook on the journey to find emotional healing.

If you struggle to have your emotional needs met in a relationship or identify that you display anxious or avoidant behaviour then this episode is for you.

  • Chris explains what attachment theory is and what the different attachment styles are including anxious, avoidant, disorganised and secure.
  • That we tend to develop an insecure attachment style during childhood through trauma whether it's big or small and what trauma means.
  • Chris shares what brought on his anxious attachment including the loss of his mother and the emotional distance between him and his father amongst other difficult personal traumas.
  • That being disconnected from our care givers, physically and emotionally triggers our survival responses and causes trauma.
  • How the different roles we play in childhood like for example 'the golden child' can deeply affect how we expect our needs to be met as adults.
  • That you can develop insecure attachment styles in adult life through relationship traumas and sometimes over or under-compensate our behaviour
  • Why you need emotional and nervous system regulation in order to grow more and discover a secure attachment style and that your emotions live within your nervous system.
  • The importance of taking accountability for your behaviour and not blaming or shaming yourself so that you can allow healing to take place.
  • How self love is a key component for healing and that you have to love yourself into evolution, soften and open up more often than not.
  • Every human will experience anxiety, fear, worry and doubt, what brings us into balance again and helps us heal is when we have the ability to hold those emotions and bounce back to a place of self love and trust.
  • The most important piece of advice for finding an aligned romantic partner is to honour yourself and walk away from those who are not in alignment with your values.
