What Will Smith and Chris Rock teach us about managing emotions - Core Lies and Walking in the Truth

Will Smith and Chris Rock had an explosive incident as Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Academy Awards. Will Smiths outburst shows us how our emotions can lead to unwanted behavior.

Our beliefs impact our behavior. What are the toxic lies that are the root of Will Smith's behavior? I can relate to struggling to manage emotions. When we react based on our emotions, our behavior is often out of line with the person we desire to be.

The Core Lie illustration shows how to identify and root out unhealthy beliefs to prevent unwanted behavior. We often medicate our unwanted emotions, but a much better strategy is to replace the lies with the truths of God's Word.

“and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”” (Matthew 3:17, ESV)

“and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”” (John 8:32, ESV)
