Ep.17 - Darin Harger - AMP Drummer / Fuchsia Fest Founder
Darin Harger is the drummer and a founding member of one of Southern Indiana’s top post hardcore bands, A Modest Proposal. Formed in 2017, AMP has released one album, one EP, and three singles, of which one, “Arson”, has garnered nearly 18,000 Spotify streams to date. The band has spent the past six months on multiple tour runs around the Midwest, sharing one of those tours with Nashville-based band, Khamsin, of which Darin is also the drummer. In August of 2021, Darin launched the Evansville-based, Fuchsia Fest, an annual music and arts festival dedicated to hosting bands and visual artists from around Southern Indiana. Hannah Evelyn is the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist of one of Southern Indiana’s top Indie Rock bands, The Hannah Evelyn Trio. Hannah’s first album, Exposed Floors, hit streaming platforms in October of 2019, followed by two, five-song EP’s released in October 2020 and October 2021, both of which were recorded with Steve Tyner at Black Cat Recording. Sam Kuban is the lead singer, guitar player, bass player, drummer and the founding member of one of Southern Indiana’s strangest folk projects, Swamp Eyes. Hitting all platforms on December 9, 2022, Sam’s first full-length Swamp Eyes album titled, “Something’s In The Hall”, is a direct emotional response to navigating the intense fear surrounding an unforeseen diagnosis and its complications from a parental perspective. When not being all things Swamp Eyes, Sam is the drummer and lead singer in the surf rock Hamm’s beer-band, The Chugs. He is also the founder of Dead Ends Entertainment, a company specializing in novelty games, books, and apparel. In 2018, Sam made his big screen debut as Big Aviators in the hit thriller, Bullitt County. Sam also serves as an editor for Melodic Virtue, a publishing company that specializes in limited series coffee table books about influential punk rock bands, and is a founder of Dareaoke, a phone app for daring people to sing Karaoke. Hailed by News4U Magazine as “one of the tri-state’s most dynamic frontmen”, Jaxon spearheaded his band’s debut release, a 7-track EP titled “Rising // Falling” before diving fully in as a collaborator with his bandmates on their second release, a Wally Opus-produced single titled, “Miss Cocaine”. Kicking off this past summer, Jax and his bandmates have been on the Dog Eat Dog Tour playing shows around the Midwest in cities such as Indy, Cincinnati, Dayton, and Evansville. Kody Jones is a photographer from Southern Indiana who specializes in photographing live Hip Hop and Rock n Roll shows. Kody is the official photographer for The Strangers, but has photographed for acts like Atlas of The Dogs, The Criticals, City Morgue, CuJo, and, of course, The Strangers. Kody's latest gig was capturing The Strangers main stage performance at the 2022 Louder Than Life Festival, which took place on Sunday, Sept. 25. Ep.6 - Kadin Rea - Bass Guitarist of The Strangers
Kadin Rea is the bass guitarist, and like two of my previous podcast guests Rylan Cox and Lucas Washington, is another founding member of Southern Indiana’s Rock n Roll sensation, The Strangers. In the past six months, Kadin and his bandmates have released their debut album, toured around the MIdwest playing shows in cities like Nashville, Cincinnati, and Indy, released a mini documentary, and, most recently, won the DWPresents Battle for the Big Stage, which landed them a gig at the legendary Troubadour in Los Angeles, California. From there, The Strangers were granted a slot playing the Main Stage at the 2022 Louder Than Life music festival, which took place on Sunday, September 25th in Louisville, Kentucky. For the past four years, Kadin has also been a live sound engineer for the Hoosier Celebration Theater, mixing the audio of daily theatrical shows taking place at Holiday World and Splashin' Safari in Santa Claus, Indiana. Quiles. Cooper is currently represented as a fine artist by the Maddox Gallery, a London-based art brokerage that owns renowned galleries in London, LA, and Switzerland.
