Vox Populorum is a blog and podcast devoted to pop culture criticism. We believe that the best way to understand culture is to discuss it. But we also believe that it's a lot more fun to have these conversations throwing back a couple beers at the bar rather than in a classroom. Please join our weekly round table of media critics, academics, creators, artists, professors, students and fans for an engaging discussion about movies, novels, comic books, television, video games, music or whatever else we happen to think of!

e386. Unpacking Long-Running TV: From Sitcoms to Soap Operas

They don’t make TV like they used to. They quite literally just don’t!. There’s lots of business reasons for this and culture changes and just an over abundance of content vs what there used to be. But for better or worse, the day epic 20+ season runs of several hundred episodes are probably behind us, with the exception of a couple shows that are still on the air. So on today’s epsidoe, which literally came to Monica in a dream, she Mav and Wayne are joined by returning guest Blake Collins to talk about the evolution of television with respect to long-form story telling. Listen and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
