
This week’s guest is me Vanessa Akos by my serial entrepreneur cousin Melissa Eyles of Muddy Boots Sleepovers (Barnet & Essex).
Vanessa Abankwah is the Founder of To Thrive, an organisation which hosts a series of personal development events to motivate those from marginalised societies to become their best selves. The events feature panel talks, business showcasing, networking and also has expanded into mentoring groups, business consulting, marketing management and business promotion. Furthermore, she has recently started a podcast The Visionnaires edit Podcast which spotlights the amazing journeys of the modern-day visionaries, tastemakers, activists and thought leader’s.
She is also the owner of the luxury culturally inspired Fashion and Home Interior Brand Vanessa Akos. She has also recently started The Black Wall Street UK, a fund which raises money to assist black-owned small businesses and grassroots projects in the UK.
She has utilised graduating at the top of her class in Law and in her MSc International Development to build a career as a Project Management Consultant for INGOs and NGOs for UN-funded project in Human Rights, International Education, Economic Development, Gender Equality and Global Value Chain. Previously working for organisations such as the Overseas Development Institute, Lumos Foundation, Migrants Rights Network, Cancer Research and Opportunity International.
