How to Succeed in Christian Broadcasting with Dorothy Spaulding
In this inspiring episode of The Vision, host Katie Holmes and co-hosts Dr. Alveda King, Destiny Yarbrough, and Day Gardner welcome Dorothy Spaulding, founder of WBPI TV and author of "We Walk By Faith Not By Sight". The conversation centers on Dorothy’s extraordinary faith journey and the miraculous ways God has guided her through life, especially in founding a Christian TV station with less than $100.

Dorothy shares that her journey began with a call from God to “walk the cross” — literally traveling with a wooden cross across the country, relying solely on faith for food, shelter, and direction. For eight years, she and her husband walked without money, credit cards, or a bank account. Her transition from a life of worldly success to one rooted in spiritual purpose came after personal loss and a 40-day fast, during which she heard God’s directive to begin a new mission. Though she had no formal resources, God provided through people and circumstances — from engineers at major networks donating old equipment to strangers offering meals and shelter.

Through this walk of faith, Dorothy learned to trust God’s provision completely. She describes countless miraculous encounters, including stories of people who were healed, saved, or redirected from suicide through simple interactions with her cross-bearing ministry. One example involves a man who had planned to kill himself and his family but changed course after encountering Dorothy and her husband. Another tells of a girl who came to Christ and immediately began evangelizing her peers. These moments, she emphasizes, are the fruit of radical obedience to God's call.

The discussion also touches on Dorothy’s early life — once a businesswoman who turned away from her Christian roots before rediscovering her faith following a painful divorce. Her transformation from a worldly life to full-time ministry underscores her central message: walking by faith means stepping into the unknown and trusting God to supply every need.

Dorothy recounts a range of powerful testimonies from her travels. She tells of a young man with burn scars inflicted by his deacon father, who finally understood God’s love after a compassionate hug. In another instance, a pastor—on the verge of quitting ministry—rededicated his life after being moved by Dorothy’s story. These deeply emotional accounts highlight the brokenness people carry and how small gestures of love and truth can break through pain and despair.

The conversation also includes touching anecdotes about divine provision — such as a man who unknowingly purchased a pair of shoes six months before he met Dorothy’s husband, whose own shoes had just worn out. These acts of provision reinforced Dorothy’s trust in God and inspired viewers to believe in His faithfulness.

Throughout the episode, the hosts underscore the impact of simple obedience and the spiritual transformation that follows. They reflect on the scriptural truth that “faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen,” and encourage viewers to take steps of faith in their own lives.

Dorothy concludes with a heartfelt call to salvation, inviting those watching to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. She explains the simplicity of salvation as outlined in Romans — confessing with the mouth and believing in the heart. The episode ends with a powerful prayer for salvation and an invitation to join the family of God, emphasizing that no matter one’s past, Jesus offers healing, forgiveness, and a new beginning.

Ultimately, this episode of The Vision serves as a testimony to the power of faith, love, and obedience. Dorothy Spaulding’s story is a profound reminder that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things when they fully surrender to His will. Through her life and ministry, she exemplifies the call to “go tell” — sharing the good news of Jesus Christ wherever one...
