Episode IX: 2022 DX Season Wrap-Up and Audio Highlights (Part 1 of 2)

Bryce and Nick return to put a likely cap on the 2022 DX season, at least as it pertains to Sporadic-E.  We asked you, our beloved listeners, to send in audio clips of your best DX from this past year, and you delivered.  Bryce has tirelessly put together a compilation of clips that you can hear beginning at the 54:13 mark in the podcast.  This will be the first episode in a two part series!  The second episode we expect to hit your feeds around Labor Day Weekend.  Part of 1 of the series includes:

  • Reflecting on one-year of doing this wild and wonderful podcast.  How has it been a year already?
  • Why did summer go so quickly?  Was it something that you said?  The E-Skip season may be over, but Bryce and Nick grade the action and overall exit quite satisfied.
  • Rounding up on the Es season both stateside and internationally.  Randy Zerr (KW4RZ) had a phenomenal opening on 18 July, with much double-hop from his former state of FL into NV.
  • Jukka Kotovirta of Helsinki, Finland, a lovely city and country I had the great fortune of visiting at the end of last month, shared highlights and grades for the season as part of the Finnish DX Society!
  • Perseids meteor shower reflections
  • What's all that noise?  We discuss how a quiet noise floor is integral to endeavors such as meteor scatter DX
  • Looking forward to Nick's favorite time of the DX calendar, #TropoSZN
  • Excellent audio clips from Ken Alexander of Thailand, Jari Kohonen of Finland, Rafa Munoz of Spain, and the DX godfather, Paul Logan of Ireland
