At a distance of about 60 km from Shillong, lies the The Whistling Village called Kongthong. In Kongthong, people have a tune instead of a name. A tradition which is carried on from centuries, each child at the time of birth is given a unique tune by his/her mother. This 'Jingrwai Lawbei' (lullaby) becomes their name.
