Episode #30 - The Unofficial Maritime Wrestling Podcast
This week’s Unofficial Maritime Wrestling Podcast is a special one, we’ve hit our 30th episode! Considering that over 90% of podcasts never make it past their third episode and only about 1% reach 21 episodes, this milestone means a lot to us. To celebrate, we’re rolling out a brand-new intro and outro theme, and we’re doubling down on our commitment to covering the Maritime wrestling scene for the long haul. We’ve got a jam-packed show as we recap a massive weekend of wrestling from across the region. From CGPW’s Re-Birth in Stewiacke, featuring Baron Von Blackheart’s submission victory and a wild Stewiacke Street Fight, to Wrestling in Windsor 10, which lived up to its billing as “The Biggest Show Ever,” highlighted by Cody Uno Ocho’s main event win. We also dive into North Pro’s double shot weekend, with “Hidden Depths” in Moncton and “Goes Country” in Bible Hill, where Giant Orion continued his reign as champion. Plus, we break down all the action from IHW’s September to Surrender 20th Anniversary Tour, spanning three nights in Amherst, Riverview, and Miramichi, with standout performances from Kris Charters, Cody Deaner, and Fantana. Looking ahead, the action doesn’t slow down. Lutte Prestige returns with Brawl at Alma Hall 8, Red Rock Wrestling brings Cornwall Cornfest to PEI, CCW packs the Capital Exhibit Centre in Fredericton for Clash 38, and NBWA presents Mayhem in Minto 3 with another stacked lineup. We also ribbed "Marc The Mark" on this episode with the help of "Big Bad LG" Logan Green. To see the video, pop over to our YouTube Channel(link below)! Finally, we close out the episode by answering a great listener question from Fernando Castillo in Mexico City: Which wrestler from outside the region had the biggest impact when touring the Maritimes? Episode 30 is all about celebration, action, and looking ahead to the future of Maritime wrestling, so don’t miss it! Dave Arthur Interview, Grandson of ESA/International Wrestling Owner and Promoter Al Zinck
In this episode of the Unofficial Maritime Wrestling Podcast Interview Series, we sit down with Dave Arthur, grandson of Eastern Sports Association and International Wrestling promoter Al Zinck. Dave shares stories, memories, and insight into his grandfather’s legacy and the forgotten history of International Wrestling — the dominant promotion in the Maritimes during the 1970s. Debuting in 1969, ESA had the big TV deal and brought in major names like Freddie Sweetan, The Cormier Brothers, JJ Dillon, Harley Race, Andre the Giant, and Rocky Johnson. While little footage survived, making it less remembered than Atlantic Grand Prix Wrestling, ESA laid the groundwork for Maritime wrestling. We also talk about the behind-the-scenes drama, the promotion’s collapse, its 1984 revival, and Al Zinck’s later work with WCW. It’s a fascinating look into the true roots of wrestling in the Maritimes.

We break down the action from Red Rock Wrestling’s doubleheader in Prince Edward Island, including title defenses, returns, and a special guest referee appearance by Maritime legend Buddy Lane.  We recap NSPW’s Gala de Lutte in Shippagan, where tensions ran high and a match restart led to a chaotic No DQ finish.  Plus, we head to Springhill, Nova Scotia, for DBCW’s SuperCard 4, featuring title matches, a six-man tag war, and a well-deserved Lifetime Achievement Award for Todd "The Bodd" MacPhee.  We give shoutouts to Sebby on his U.S. debut for Limitless Wrestling and preview a match featuring Rudy Lockhart and Ian Pratt in Maine.  And don’t miss our look at a stacked lineup of upcoming shows from IHW, Lutte Prestige, UCW, New Breed, and CCW.  Finally, we answer a fun listener question from Derek in Nova Scotia: Which five Maritime wrestlers would be unlockable characters in a video game?

Episode #19 - The Unofficial Maritime Wrestling Podcast
This week on the Unofficial Maritime Wrestling Podcast, we’re recapping a jam-packed week of action across the Maritimes! It kicked off with NBWA’s Mayhem in Minto 3 and Canada Day Clash, where Larry Horowitz continued his dominant title reign, Stormie Hale and Kristara split wins in back-to-back women’s triple threats, and Kerry Killem narrowly retained the River Valley title. Wrestling in Windsor 9 brought the heat in Nova Scotia on Friday night with standout wins from Giant Orion, Olafur Hanson, the tag team of Dick & Draice Durning and Windsor's Own Cody Uno Ocho. On Saturday afternoon, at CCW’s Shredericton Music Festival show, we saw strong performances all around, Nick Strong picked up another solid win, continuing to build momentum, while Logan Green looked sharp in a hard-fought battle against Rick Owens. Slick McGrick also delivered in his River Valley Championship match against Kerry Killem, showing real fire and grit, even though the match ended in a DQ.  That night, North Pro’s Uncharted Waters shook Saint John with a stacked card. Highlights included Draice Durning picking up the win in a VIP triple threat, Ronnie Payne defeating Joey White in a hard-fought intergender match, and Giant Orion retaining the NP Championship in a wild fatal 4-way. The main event saw Sabotage take on Saint John’s own Dick Durning and Chip Chambers—and we can’t forget Chip’s insane dive off the balcony that had the crowd on their feet chanting "Holy Shit!"  Throughout the episode, we touch on how the Maritime women’s division is feeling the effects of some tough injuries. Salem Wilder is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, while Chantal is also out of action after suffering a broken nose during a match in Ontario. We’re sending our best to both and wishing them a full and speedy recovery. We also preview the upcoming cards from Kaizen, United Wrestling, and IHW, plus a chaotic hardcore brawl in this week’s "Marc Side of the Ring". We also want to thank Joe Dunlap for the killer intro, and thank Manuel, Roland, Julie, Connor, Ryan, and Cody for sending in results. Without them, it would be tough to recap and discuss these matches, so we truly appreciate everyone who reaches out when we can't be there in person. Strong communities are a team effort. Cheers!
