The Triple Effect is a podcast that explores the lasting ripple effects of the people and moments that shape who we become. In each episode, I sit down with influential and well-known guests to reflect on the two individuals and one pivotal situation that profoundly impacted their lives.

First, we talk about someone close to them who had a powerful, positive impact. A mentor, a friend, a teacher—someone who saw their potential when others didn’t, stood by their side, or helped them find the courage to grow.

Then, we talk about a negative or challenging situation. Something that may have felt like a setback at the time, but ultimately led to transformation, resilience, and unexpected growth.

Finally, we explore someone they've never met, but who inspires them deeply. A role model, historical figure, or public personality whose influence continues to guide your path toward success, purpose, or inner peace.

The format leads to incredibly rich and unexpected conversations—ones that often take us down surprising paths and offer a rare glimpse into the lives of my guests. It’s a chance for both you, the listener, and me to connect with them on a deeply meaningful level.

I hope you enjoy these conversations as much as I do.

Ray Goggins - Ex Special Forces

This week on The Triple Effect, my guest is Ray Goggins — former Irish Special Forces operator, bestselling author, and the man most of you will know as the tough but fair Chief Instructor on RTÉ’s Ultimate Hell Week. But to me, he’ll always be “Number 10” — the name I was given during my time on the show.

With over 26 years in the Defence Forces, including 17 years in the elite Army Ranger Wing, Ray has spent a lifetime operating and leading in some of the most high-pressure environments imaginable. Now, he’s taking things even further on his new adventure series Uncharted, where he leads well-known Irish figures through extreme survival challenges.

In this episode, we go beyond the persona. I got the chance to sit down with Ray in a very different context—away from the shouting, stress, and camo—to talk about how he found his path, what drives him, and the everyday side of the man behind the uniform.

Whether it’s the wild or the boardroom, Ray’s all about resilience, leadership, and helping people discover their true potential. It was a really special conversation, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
