Focus Text: Exodus 10:21-23
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness which may even be felt.”  So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days. They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

Springboard Thought:
When I consider the Passover story, I am brought to the ninth plague, the plague of darkness. I consider the idea of a darkness so thick, one could feel it. I think about what the days must have been like for families when the darkness fell, especially over the length of time. I also reflect on the idea of a group, and in this case Israel, being in touch with the right resources, that they would remain to have light in their homes. And for those who may not know the story of the Exodus, Israel’s resource, through the whole ordeal, was a connection to God Himself, who was the author of this plague of darkness. The point is, in this moment of darkness, there was a group who was ready for what was about to happen, and there was another group who would not be prepared to deal with this situation.
