In racing and in life, it's the hard middle laps, not just the finish line that define who we are. The Third Lap Podcast was created to open up honest conversations about the “in-between”. Otherwise known as the uncertain, uncomfortable, yet deeply transformative moments in both running and life. Through candid conversations with runners of all levels, from hobby joggers to elites, The Third Lap explores what it means to keep showing up when the path forward isn’t clear. Each episode aims to remind listeners that no one’s journey is perfectly linear. Trust the process & happy listening!

03. Tori Mariano // Ultimate Debrief of What No One Tells You About College Running: Recruiting Process, Fueling for Performance, Menstrual Health, Injuries, Mindset Shifts & Teammate Memories

In this episode, I sit down for a full circle conversation with one of my closest friends and former teammate, Tori Mariano, to reflect on lessons learned through college running.

We dive right into discussions on the reality of under fueling and how crucial it is to keep fueling simple (food is fuel), why getting a regular menstrual cycle is essential for female athletes, and debunking long-standing myths around nutrition and performance. We also swap stories from our most memorable cross country meets, reflect on the highs and lows of being student-athletes, and Tori shares what she’s learned through her nonlinear five years in the sport.

I am so excited to share this conversation with you all as we unpack many of the things that nobody told us before college running - filled with laughs, reflections and maybe even helpful insight for anyone who may need it!

Don't forget to provide a review, drop a follow and let me know what topics or guests you'd like to see in the future!
