This week, we were curious to learn more about the latest fintech innovation and what it’s like to work for the world’s leading employer, Google. To find out about it first hand, Cédric met with Phil Lojacono, Founder & CEO of Advanon.
With a background in Finance and Banking, Phil Lojacono built an interesting career, switching from a corporate job to a startup. Lojacono studied in Luzern but gained international academic experience by spending the two exchange semesters in London, England and Edmonton, Canada. Soon after, he got the opportunity to work for Google as an intern on the business development side, which Lojacono described it as “an amazing experience.” That’s where he got inspired to start his own company and where he met his co-founders.
The team behind Advanon identified a major issue that many SMEs are dealing with. Once they deliver their products or services, they often have to wait for three to four months in order to get paid. To bridge the long payment terms of SMEs, Advanon developed a platform that enables SMEs to sell invoices to financial investors. That way, SMEs get the chance to improve their cash balance, while investors can experience a sort of short-term investment.
