Episode 56 - The one technique to control your self talk.

Sometimes in life, negativity seems to come from all directions. If we watch the morning news, we hear about murders, robberies, car jackings, and many other negative things. If we read the online news, we are going to read about the same things. Surrounding ourselves with such negativity makes it easy for us to engage in negative self talk, which, in turn, can have the affect of decreasing our confidence levels and no one wants that.

In addition to the media spreading negativity, many advertisements, in this day and age, leave people feeling bad or encourage them to be hard on themselves. For example, if a person who is struggling with their weight views a commercial for clothing aimed at say thin men and women, they are likely to engage in negative self talk, and decrease their confidence even more. In order to avoid becoming so discouraged by the negativity in life, you need to learn to replace negative self talk with positive self talk. This is easier said than done, however, it is one of the best ways to boost your confidence, but can also be a big challenge for many people.

In order to successfully be able to replace negative self talk with positive self talk, you have to make a firm decision to be a more optimistic person. If you do not truly want to be a more positive person, there are no tips, tricks, or techniques that will turn you into a positive thinking person.

To replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you need to learn how to stop negative self talk in its tracks. If you start to have a negative thought, tell yourself to stop that, and begin to think of how the situation could be better. It’s about changing the picture in your mind that’s feeding your self talk. Words trigger pictures, that create emotion. Change the picture!
