
Meet Antonia, an ambitious clinical psychology student, based in Vienna. She brings two topics to the table. In the first half, we discuss her struggles with procrastination. Because while she enjoys psychology as a topic, she admits that she puts everything off until the last minute. Despite the little effort she puts in, she still gets great results. This makes her feel guilty, and insecure, as she wonders: 'Am I doing something wrong? Is there something I am missing?' In this episode, I coach Antonia around the topic of boredom, and I help her see why trying to force herself to spend more time studying is not the way forward. Instead, I invite her to focus LESS on her studies, and MORE on her other interests, including her political ambitions.
This brings us to the second half of the session, where we dive into the theme of action-taking within & despite already existing, rigid structures. Antonia has big visions, and is an empathetic leader, but too often, she steps back to let others take the stage. She is prone to 'obeying the rules' and fitting into the system, rather than following her own divergent ideas. I help her redefine her understanding of leadership, and overcome the mindset blocks that have been keeping her from going after her political aspirations. Because ultimately, the world needs more divergent thinkers, and more empathy, not less...
