If a game is worth its price tag. Not to mention the backlog of games that seem like an ever-growing boss fight that we just can't win. Enter the single-player experience, the video game podcast designed for solo gamers who wanna know about good single-player experiences. My name is Sebastion Mauldin. I've played hundreds of games and now I'm a video game reviewer who specializes in single-player games. Microsoft has officially raised the price of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to $29.99 a month — that’s $360 a year. Along with the price hike, Microsoft announced some new perks: Ubisoft Plus Classics, Fortnite Crew (with 1,000 V-Bucks and the monthly Battle Pass), more PC games in every tier, and a commitment to 75 day-one releases a year instead of 50.

On paper, that sounds like a lot of value. But here’s the catch: many of these perks aren’t new. EA Play was already part of Game Pass. Several Ubisoft titles were already available in the library. And for players who don’t care about Fortnite — myself included — the $10 price hike feels like paying extra for something we’ll never use.

So the question becomes: is Game Pass still worth it?

For years, Game Pass has been one of the best values in gaming, letting players try new indie games, blockbuster day-one launches, and classics without breaking the bank. But $30 a month puts it in Netflix territory, and streaming services have already shown us how unsustainable that can feel.

If you’re the kind of player who jumps into new games every month, maybe it’s still worth it. But if you only play a handful of games a year, you might be better served by downgrading to the Premium or Essential tiers — or even going back to buying games individually.

For the first time in years, Xbox gamers are asking themselves: do I need Game Pass at this cost?

What do you think — will you stick with Ultimate, downgrade, or drop Game Pass altogether?
