In Episode 16 of The Shuffle Curious Podcast, we had a special guest, Jake Kerins! A prominent figure in the shuffle community. Jake, along with his fiancé Amy, have been actively building a thriving community through various initiatives. They have established regular classes at the Collaboratory Complex in Denver, conducted workshops at different festivals and within Denver, providing personal one-on-one instruction, while offering tutorials and inspiration for dancers online as well!

Despite lacking any formal training in dance or shuffling, Jake's passion for the art form shines through. He shares how he was initially inspired by seeing a video of 2pull dancing on a piece of wood in the midst of Elements Festival, as well as being captivated by Elena Cruz's shuffling in different music videos. These motivated Jake to delve into shuffle dancing, initially incorporating it into his routine after Crossfit workouts.

Setting up a makeshift shuffle lab in his basement, Jake experimented with different movements and sought to find a natural flow that resonated with him. Gradually, he began to refine his skills and develop his unique dancing style. As his abilities progressed, he gained recognition and amassed a following. Jake aspires to use his platform to inspire others to tap into their creative potential, fostering a space for individuals from all walks of life to learn and grow on their dance journeys.

Ultimately, Jake's vision extends beyond his personal success. He aims to expand the reach of shuffle dancing, showcasing the art form to both experienced shufflers and newcomers alike. By building and nurturing the community, Jake hope’s to provide opportunities for people to embrace shuffling as a means of self-expression and find their own creative power.

Jake Kerins is a multifaceted individual who thrives as a creative director, shuffle dancer/instructor, and mindfulness enthusiast. Hailing from the East Coast, just outside of Philadelphia, Jake now lives in Denver, Colorado and is a part of the Mile High Shufflers. He embodies the spirit of a true artist and guide, infusing passion, authenticity, and purpose into everything he does. Continuously evolving, he seeks to inspire, uplift, and create meaningful connections through the power of dance, mindfulness, and artistic expression.
