On today's episode of The Rose Room, our host Angela Mitchell speaks with Dr. Sarah Morelli about her journey in South Asian music, specifically Hindustani Music. Dr. Morelli gives us an exciting crash course on Tihai's, and tells us about The North Indian Classical Ensemble that she started at DU. Please check out some highlights of Dr. Morelli's Kathak dance performances here: https://youtu.be/N8xP74Cal3Y
The North Indian Classical Ensemble (MUEN 3041) is open to all DU students, regardless of background experience. It can be taken for 1 or 0 credits and is currently taught via Zoom.
Kathak classes are available for the broader community through Dr. Morelli’s school, the Sureela Academy of Kathak (www.sureela.org) See her book A Guru’s Journey: Pandit Chitresh Das and Indian Classical Dance in the West to learn more.
