Ep 41: Traditional Birth Keeping with birth sister, Alisha Meyer

Inside this interview, Haley chats with Alisha Meyer, who was the birthkeeper for the home birth of her daughter.

Alisha is a traditional birth attendant who has been sitting at the feet of women in birth since the young age of 14. She shares her unique story of getting into birth work & the role of a birth sister, versus someone whom may be licensed.

In this episode, Alisha shares in depth about the importance of birth education, how to honor undisturbed birth & what non-medical midwifery looks like. Haley also shares some personal insights around how she navigated the glucose tolerance test & the importance of working alongside a care provider who respected her autonomy & leadership throughout pregnancy & birth.

This is a wonderful, soulful chat between 2 women who trust birth full heartedly. Enjoy!

About Alisha:

Alisha is a Traditional Birth Attendant passionately pursuing the traditions of our ancestors for the birthing years. She is also actively guiding women in taking back their power to be the wise woman of her family and in her community through her mentorship and birth support.
