Season 7, Episode 10. — Kelly Ann Shaw, Partner at Akin Gump.
I first met Kelly Ann when I was beginning my own work in international trade. At the time, she was my counterpart in the U.S. Delegation, handling disputes and other complex issues. Since then, her career has soared—spanning the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, the U.S. House of Representatives, and even the White House.
We recently reconnected during the WTO Public Forum in Geneva, a gathering of some of the most influential thinkers, policymakers, and practitioners in the field of trade. There, I had the opportunity to sit down with Kelly Ann to discuss her career, her perspectives on the current state of international trade, and what the future may hold. With her wealth of experience and unique vantage point, she brings insights you won’t want to miss.
Beyond her impressive résumé, Kelly Ann is also a warm and engaging conversationalist, with a fascinating life story that makes this conversation both thoughtful and enjoyable.
So, without further ado, here’s my conversation with Kelly Ann.

Season 6, Episode 8. Jennifer Brant. Founder and Principal at Innovations Insights.
Jennifer heads a boutique consulting firm specializing in strategic communications and government affairs.
If you work in International Geneva, you may encounter Jennifer. I have been following her career due to its intersection with many of the same topics we work on, and I met her a couple of years ago. Due to her experience covering law firms, policy, and the private sector, I wanted to hear more about her journey, and my conversation with her did not disappoint.
Jennifer's career has taken her across the globe, from Sidley Austin LLP in Geneva to Oxfam in Washington, D.C., and Geneva, and Gianni Origoni & Partners in Milan. Her experiences are not just stories but a treasure trove of valuable insights that will captivate and inspire you.
In this episode, we delve into her experiences in global policy research and advocacy, her work on World Trade Organization dispute settlement and policy, and the lessons she learned at UCLA, Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), and the Geneva Graduate Institute.
Engaging in a conversation with Jennifer was an absolute joy, and I'm confident you'll be equally captivated with this episode.
Subscribe and be part of the conversation!
