The Road Less Travelled is an Australian podcast documenting and capturing the Australian spirit of travel, discovery and adventure. Join your host Nicki Shea where together you'll experience adventures all around Australia.

There's always a story involved as each week we are out caravanning, 4WDing, fishing, camping, gold detecting, cooking and exploring places, history and visiting destinations all rolled into each episode.

This is a self funded independent podcast, and we would love your support!

Got something we should feature, review, discover or explore; drop us a line.

For over 25 years Nicki Shea has been in the motorcycling and motorsport media. Aged 14 when her family sold up house and business got a caravan and 4wd and headed around Australia almost as gypsies, picking up work along the way, meeting all walks of people, and visiting hidden places. Schooled on the road by correspondence and educated by life adventures, and a generation of tales and stories to be shared. Traveling is in her veins and Australia is a vast landscape waiting to be visited and explored. What a combination!

Western Australia's Mighty Lake Argyle

Western Australia's Mighty Lake Argyle

Lake Argyle is one of the largest man-made lakes in the southern hemisphere and home to more than 70 islands.

Created by the Ord River Dam, it's classified as an inland sea and at its peak in the green season Lake Argyle holds a staggering 10.7 billion cubic metres of water at full supply level. That's more than 18 times the size of Sydney Harbour.

Lake Argyle is approximately 75km by road from Kununurra, via the Victoria Highway. You can take the leisurely and scenic 40-minute drive from Kununurra through the Carr Boyd Ranges to Lake Argyle's shores, or to appreciate its immensity, hop on a scenic flight - you can even go by float plane and land on the lake. You can also cruise from Kununurra along the Ord River to Lake Argyle, and this week you can join us at Lake Argyle.

"If there is any road not travelled then that is the one I must take." Edward John Eyre
