In addition, they discuss a fascinating and important archeological project that was completed using a RIEGL VUX-1UAV in the old fortress, Kuélap. Kuélap, one of the largest ancient monuments of the Americas, was a fortified citadel in Northern Peru on the slopes of the Andes and it was built by the “Chachapoyas” culture in the 6th century AD. Kuélap sits at 3,200 meters above sea level and the challenges overcome along with the results achieved using RIEGL LiDAR technology is incredible.
