Sarah Ferguson & Jeffrey Epstein - Email Revelations & What Next For The Royal Family?
This week on The Rest Is PR, Jacki and Lyle turn their attention to the Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, and the growing fallout from her newly revealed email to Jeffrey Epstein.
In the message - sent just weeks after she publicly disowned him in a 2011 interview - Fergie refers to Epstein as a 'steadfast, generous and supreme friend' and even apologised for 'letting him down.' A spokesperson has since claimed the email was written under threat of a defamation lawsuit, but the damage has been swift: Ferguson has been dropped by six charities, including Julia's House, the Teenage Cancer Trust and Prevent Breast Cancer.
Jacki highlights how this scandal is the latest in a long line of PR crises for the York family, and argues that the Royal Family must take a firmer stance to protect both the institution and the business. Lyle points to Ferguson’s defence as a troubling excuse and questions why more decisive action hasn’t been taken - with King Charles and Prince William seemingly positing different approaches to the pair's continued involvement with the family.
