From an early age, Ghaya Al Ahbabi knew she wanted to make a difference. Growing up in the UAE, she was inspired by the wisdom and legacy of Sheikh Zayed, which instilled in her a deep sense of responsibility for the environment. At just six years old, she developed a passion for sustainability, believing that even the smallest actions could contribute to a greater impact.
Her journey took a profound turn when, at the age of nine, she traveled to Tanzania. There, she helped build schools and a hospital, a mission that demonstrated the power of compassion and action. Witnessing firsthand the impact of her efforts, she became determined to create lasting change. Her commitment led her to become the youngest UNICEF youth advocate and an ambassador for COP28, where she now stands among global leaders, championing the cause of sustainability on an international stage.
Beyond her activism, Ghaya’s story is one of empowerment. She speaks about the unwavering support of her family and the UAE government, which provided her with opportunities to grow, learn, and lead. She challenges perceptions, advocating for the role of youth and women in creating a better world.
