In this episode, we sit down with Kim Whitaker, an entrepreneurial leader and startup founder with a passion for social change, enabling technology and obsessive customer service. Kim is a strategy consultant and serial entrepreneur, starting her first tourism business at the young age of 23, inspired by a year of living and working around the world. She is a co-founder of some incredible businesses including non-profit Khwela Womxn, Once Travel and Ubuntu Beds, a technology platform which accommodated over 4000 healthcare workers in empty hotels during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kim worked closely with the MEA team at Airbnb and helped scale the Airbnb Entrepreneurship Academy. With an Executive MBA from the UCT Graduate School for Business under her belt, and numerous awards including the prestigious Sanlam/Business Partners Entrepreneur of the Year award and the Mail&Guardian 200 Young Leaders, Kim was born with natural entrepreneurial flair and the hospitality chops to match it. She is a proud mom, an entrepreneur who values the power of community and an extraordinary example of a woman in business doing exceptional things.
