Alana Husby is the co-founder (with her sister Nicole) of Haida Gwaii Glamping Co., a distinctive luxury camping retreat set on 6.2 acres near Tlell, on Graham Island in Haida Gwaii. This immersive “roughing it… optional” destination blends indigenous heritage, eco-conscious design, and heartfelt hospitality .
Unique Glamping Experience
• The property features 10 spacious cedar‑pole prospector tents—each over 300 sq ft—with private ensuites (toilet, sink, shower), queen or double beds, cozy bamboo linens, and mosquito netting . Four tents are on the beach, six in rainforest settings, all with 120 sq ft decks to connect you to nature .
• Alana infused the design with ideas from her globe‑trotting observations—Maui‑style BBQ areas, driftwood chairs reminiscent of the South of France, and nightly s’mores à la her stepmother’s recipe .
Hospitality & Amenities
• Each morning offers a simple continental breakfast plus a mini smoothie station, set in the spectacular 860 sq ft geodesic “social dome” .
• Cooking is communal and fun—there’s a full kitchen, BBQ deck with pizza oven, crab pots, an herb garden for fresh mint, and all necessary utensils .
• Additional luxuries include a cedar hot tub, barrel sauna, ice bath, kayaks, paddleboards, beach fires, axe‑throwing, and family‑friendly features like toys, board games, and pet‑friendly policies .
Guest Experience & Cultural Connection
• In guests’ words:
“A piece of paradise!” – Keith (Tripadvisor), praising the owners’ passion, homestyle touches, cedar hot tub, and beach fire pits .
“The tents are spacious… attention to detail… bamboo sheets.” – Morie F. highlights herb garden surprises and friendly staff like Amy .
• A travel feature described drifting to the communal dome’s deck with Alana herself—“a wonderful host and a spectacular storyteller” .
Roots & Vision
• Born and raised in Haida Gwaii and honorarily adopted into the Raven Wolf Clan of the Haida Nation, Alana’s goal was to create something that would keep her home during the busy summer tourist season .
• The glamping resort showcases a deep respect for the land and indigenous culture, providing guests both comfort and meaningful connection to the place.
