Fool’s Gold (2008) is a romantic action-comedy that follows the misadventures of treasure hunter Ben “Finn” Finnegan (Matthew McConaughey) and his ex-wife Tess (Kate Hudson). The two are recently divorced, but their shared obsession with finding the legendary Queen’s Dowry—a treasure lost at sea in 1715—pulls them back together.

Finn discovers a new clue to the treasure’s location and convinces Tess’s wealthy employer, Nigel Honeycutt (Donald Sutherland), and his ditzy daughter Gemma to fund the expedition. As they follow a trail of historical clues through the Bahamas, they’re pursued by Finn’s gangster creditor Bigg Bunny (Kevin Hart) and rival treasure hunter Moe Fitch (Ray Winstone), who also happens to be Finn’s former mentor.
